XRP Holds Near $1.07 as $1.50 Billion ETF Inflows Fail to Lift Price

XRP traded near $1.07 while U.S. spot XRP ETFs drew $1.50 billion in cumulative inflows. Persistent token supply growth and a heavy break-even sell zone continue to cap upside.

XRP hovered around $1.07 on August 4, extending a prolonged downtrend even after U.S. spot XRP ETFs absorbed $1.50 billion in cumulative net inflows. For investors, the headline is stark: regulated demand has been real, but price performance has remained weak.

The token is down 42% year to date and roughly 70% below its July 18, 2025 all-time high of $3.65703. That disconnect between institutional inflows and market price has become one of the clearest tests of whether ETF demand alone can overcome structural supply pressure in crypto.

Technical conditions add to the pressure. XRP remains pinned below a dense resistance cluster between $1.07 and $1.10, while repeated tests of support near $1.04 and $1.00 suggest the market is approaching a decisive break.

Key Facts

  • XRP traded near $1.07, down 1.0% over 24 hours, 3.63% over the past week, and 5.78% over the past month.
  • Seven U.S. spot XRP ETFs have attracted $1.50 billion in cumulative net inflows and hold about 978.9 million XRP.
  • Total XRP ETF net assets stood at $988.7 million as of July 29, reflecting price-driven erosion of roughly $500 million versus cumulative inflows.
  • Ripple’s monthly escrow system can release up to 1 billion XRP, with an estimated net 200 million to 300 million tokens typically added to circulating supply.
  • Roughly 60% of circulating XRP is estimated to have an average cost basis near $1.48, creating a potential break-even sell wall above current prices.

XRP price and ETF inflows

The central issue for XRP is not a lack of interest. Institutional buyers have used ETF vehicles steadily, and the XRP Ledger has shown signs of operating growth. Yet the token itself has failed to respond, largely because the market is absorbing more than demand headlines. Investors are also pricing in recurring monthly supply releases, long-term holder distribution, and a large cohort of underwater owners who may sell into any rally.

The ETF data illustrates the imbalance. The funds have gathered $1.50 billion in cumulative net inflows since launch, but assets have slipped to just under $1 billion because XRP’s decline offset fresh capital. In practical terms, investors kept buying the wrapper while the underlying asset continued falling. That makes the current ETF bid look more like a stabilizing floor than a catalyst for a sustained breakout.

The comparison with Bitcoin’s ETF footprint is also notable. XRP ETF net assets are only a small share of the token’s market capitalization, far below the level seen in more mature crypto ETF markets. Until that penetration rises materially, ETF demand may not be strong enough to overpower spot selling and scheduled token issuance.

XRP is showing that institutional demand can be genuine without being strong enough to defeat supply, dilution and break-even selling pressure.

Why supply still matters more than flows

Ripple’s escrow structure remains one of the most important long-term variables. On the first day of each month, up to 1 billion XRP can be released from escrow, though much of that is typically re-locked. Even so, the market still faces an estimated net increase of about 200 million to 300 million XRP per month entering circulation for operations, liquidity and ecosystem uses.

That pace matters when ETF holdings are absorbing tokens more slowly. Across roughly eight months, the ETF complex accumulated 978.9 million XRP, or about 122 million tokens per month on average. Measured against escrow-related net supply growth alone, ETF demand appears insufficient. Add selling from profitable long-term holders and break-even exits from investors who bought higher, and the arithmetic becomes even less favorable for bulls.

Another constraint sits near $1.48, where a large share of circulating supply is estimated to be underwater. If price recovers toward that level, many holders may choose to exit at break-even rather than hold for a larger move. That kind of overhead supply can suppress rallies for months, especially when broader risk appetite remains uneven.

Implications for Investors

For portfolio managers and active traders, XRP currently presents a split narrative. On one side, ETF inflows, declining exchange supply and continued XRP Ledger usage suggest the asset retains institutional relevance and ecosystem momentum. On the other, the token’s market structure remains fragile, with resistance stacked above spot and support repeatedly tested below.

The most important near-term levels appear well defined. Resistance is clustered around $1.093, then the broader $1.10 to $1.14 area where several moving averages converge. A break above the descending channel near $1.21 would be a more meaningful technical signal that sellers are losing control. On the downside, $1.04 is a key shelf, while a decisive move below $1.00 could expose the $0.95 to $0.90 range.

Investors should also watch regulation, because XRP flows appear increasingly sensitive to policy expectations. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act remains a potential catalyst, especially given XRP’s history with U.S. regulatory uncertainty. With the Senate state work period beginning August 10 and no floor vote scheduled as of August 3, the legislative window is narrowing. If the bill slips further, a major bullish catalyst could be delayed into 2027.

That timing risk matters because recent ETF flow momentum has already slowed. After stronger months earlier in 2026, July inflows fell sharply before recovering near month-end. A renewed pickup in creations could help support sentiment, but if weekly inflows soften while escrow supply continues and the Senate calendar stalls, XRP may remain range-bound or vulnerable to another leg lower.

Longer term, investors should separate the growth of the XRP Ledger from the value capture of the XRP token. Network activity has improved, including growth in automated market maker pools, tokenized assets and settlement flows. But a payments-focused bridge asset with very short settlement duration does not necessarily require sustained token hoarding. That reduces the direct link between ledger usage and token price appreciation.

XRP enters the next phase with real institutional participation but unresolved structural headwinds. Whether the token can move decisively above resistance may depend less on ETF demand alone and more on a combination of regulatory clarity, reduced sell pressure and proof that new buyers can absorb fresh supply.
